FAQ's

How do I find the image I’m looking for?

Images are organised into broad galleries, based on our key interests

Events - Performance - Sports - Stock - Travel.

Each gallery is subdivided into further categories. You can browse the galleries to find what you are looking for.

The most effective way to search is to use keywords. All images are saved with keywords attached, so choosing specific keywords to describe the image you are after will help you to find what you need.

Please see the Navigation tips page for the most effective way to utilize these keywords.

Where are the prices?

Different images are available for different purposes. Because of this there are different price lists. These options with payment categories are listed with each image.

If an image is available for sale or licensing then it will have a ‘buy’ button above it when viewed as a single image or a ‘£’ when hovering over a thumbnail.

If you wish to download the image then choose ‘Buy Download’ or ‘Add to Package’ (For Personal Use) or ‘Buy Licence’ (for Commercial use) to view prices for different sizes.

If you wish to buy a print click the ‘Order Prints’ button to view those prices.

Download packages are for 3, 5 or 10 full size images and are for personal use only.

Why are there different types of licences?

If you wish to have an electronic copy of an image for personal use then buy a download using the ‘Buy Download’ or ‘Add to Package’ button.

This licence gives you free rein to do as you wish with your image as long as it is not for financial gain. You can print it, use it on social media sites, or just use it as a screensaver but you may not use it for commercial gain.

Some images may be available as a Royalty Free download. An RF license allows use of an image for anything, including commercial use, and allows an image to be used again and again.

Other images are available for commercial use via a Rights Managed licence. This is a license for a specific use of an image and the prices depend on lots of factors, such as how many copies would be printed, who would see it etc.

There is more on the different types of licences below.

What is a Royalty Free Licence

Royalty Free images are available to the purchaser to use the photo multiple times, on multiple projects. This includes projects, campaigns, and multiple print materials. In simple terms, if you purchase a Royalty Free Image to create a brochure, you can also make a poster, a business card and a banner with no additional charges.

Royalty free images can also be extended to further employees with a company that purchased an image. This allows a company to build continuity of images and branding, without paying additional rights for each employee.

The downside of Royalty Free Images is that cannot be purchased on an exclusive basis. Therefore other stock photography purchasers may end up using the image you purchased for their campaign as well.

Royalty Free is a non-exclusive copyright licence.

What is a Rights Managed Licence

Rights managed is a one time charge for the one time use of a photo for a particular reason. As an example, you may request and agree the use of a rights managed image for a brochure. However, if you then wish to use it for a poster, a new use agreement needs to be reached.

What makes rights managed images attractive, is that they are available for exclusive use.

None of our Rights managed images are available through stock agencies.

What is a ‘Lightbox’ and how do I use it?

A Lightbox is like your personal ‘favourites' folder. Adding images to your Lightbox is done by clicking on the check-mark on thumbnails or using the Add to Lightbox button above individual photos.

When you want to see your compiled personal Lightbox, use the bottom Menu, and go to My Lightbox. Images can be added and removed from your folder.

You can assign your Lightbox a specific name, allowing for multiple Lightboxes for your different projects!

You also have the ability to email your Lightbox to other members on your team, your client, your project manager, whoever you need to.

At the bottom of your Lightroom you will find a link to ‘Request a quotation...’ which will allow you to send MPD the images, including comments.

How are my purchased images delivered?

For personal use and most Royalty Images, once payment is process by Paypal, images can be downloaded direct from the website.

Rights Managed images can be delivered in the same way, but can sometimes require some professional touching up before delivery.

How much will it cost me to license an image?

Prices vary according to the type of licence and the size of the image. For example, small images suitable for online use is a few pounds for a non-exclusive Royalty Free licence.

Rights Managed images, with worldwide exclusivity for multiple purposes can be considerably more.

Clicking the buy option button above an image brings up the available options to purchase.
